No bishop, no cardinal, but this funeral coach was too good to pass up.

They're great. Do you have those cards physically? Where did you get them?
No, sorry, I swiped pretty much all of them off the web. Postcards like these are very expensive. If you are interested in buying some, I suggest online-auctions like ebay or flea-markets or used-book stores, which sometimes also sell postcards.
I believe that that form of baldachin, with bars connecting the poles, is in fact the typical, or at least a very common one in France.
Would you have any photo of the interior of Notre Dame de Paris before the renovations?
SMJ: No, sorry, I don't have any photos of Notre Dame from back then. If I find some, I'll post them!
I notice thar in some of the pictures, some bishops wear their miter and crozier with their choir dress. Why is it so? I thought the combination to be unusual.
Leo, I've noticed that some of the French bishops wear (what in England are called) "preaching bands" with choir dress: an extension of their collar.
I'm wondering what colour these bands would be for a bishop? Black or Roman purple? They seem to be particular to the Catholic Church in France.
what you call preaching bands is normaly called rabat in catholic terms! see http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabat_(bef)

That strange baldaquin looks like a very expensive bed without a mattress.
