This canon of the cathedral chapter of Fribourg/Switzerland is proudly sporting his almuce. It's warm, fluffy and beautiful, so why don't we see it anymore? PETA-activists going bonkers? Well, that's just one more reason to promote the use of the almuce, isn't it?

Thank you for showing the almuce. I always wondered what an almuce looked like. By the way, in some photos from Germany some priests are wearing something like a very shortened, unbuttoned, mozetta, sometimes with fringes, worn over the surplice. Actually, a photo taken on the day of the priestly ordination of the Ratzinger brothers shows them wearing this item. It is a form of almuce?Also, in the second photo of Archbishop Orsenigno there are several priests on the right wearing this item.
